Cinemas would be reopened on January 1 next year under strict COVID-19 guidelines except the ones in isolated areas, Prime Minister's Office said.
The decision to revive the entertainment industry was taken following a discussion chaired by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa with all stakeholders including artists, film producers and Directors of the Film Association since the film industry has been vulnerable due to the global pandemic.
