The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has obtained cabinet approval to set-up a domestic airline service.
Accordingly, domestic airlines will be able to register themselves and operate within the country, the CAA said.
However, only 80 passengers could be transported at a time using the domestic airline service.
Flights are expected to take-off and touchdown at the Ratmalana, Batticaloa, and Jaffna airports.
These services are expected to begin by next month.
