Police fired high pressure water cannons last evening, to disperse a group of residents from Kotakethana, who were staging a protest on the Colombo – Embilipitiya main road. The Colombo – Embilipitiya main road which was obstructed due to the protest till late last night was re-opened for traffic earlier Friday morning. The protesters had obstructed the the Colombo – Embilipitiya main road while engaging in their protest. The protest commenced in the evening, following the acquittal of three suspects in a double murder that occurred in Kotakethana, Kahawatte, in 2012.
