The Presidential Commission to investigate complaints regarding missing persons is set to commence its hearings at in Trincomalee today, (March 2), local media reported. The Secretary of the Commission, H.W. Gunadasa was quoted by local media as saying that the hearing would take place today and tomorrow. The Commission conducted a hearing on Saturday and Sunday at the Kuchchaveli Divisional Secretariat and so far have received 26,000 complaints.

The Colombo–Kandy main road at Pahala Kadugannawa has been closed indefinitely after a deadly rockfall in the area that left six people dead and four others injured.
The Cyclonic Storm “Ditwah” moved further north from Trincomalee today evening leaving a trail of destruction including more than 90 deaths, over 100 missing and tens of thousands displaced, officials said.
