Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressing UNP protesters at Liberty roundabout said that his ousting as Prime Minister is "constitutionally wrong". Mr Wickremesinghe said that when he was sworn in as PM in 2015 it was based on a mandate by the people.
"The President has broken that mandate and put Parliament aside and has taken executive power into his hands. We are against it and we won't let this happen," said PM Wickremesinghe.
Mr. Wickremesinghe also said that he has garnered the support of the international community adding that government cannot impede the momentum of the people that has begun and whose support he has.
