The first day of the Committee Stage Debate of Budget 2019 commenced in Parliament this morning (13).

Today is the first of 19 days allotted for the Committee Stage Debate. A final vote on the Third Reading of the Budget is scheduled to be held at the conclusion of this debate on April 5.
Expenditure Heads of 25 institutions are being debated today. They include Expenditure Heads of the President, Office of the Prime Minister, Office of the Cabinet of Ministers, Judges of the Superior Courts, Parliament and independent commissions such as the Elections Commission, National Police Commission, Human Rights Commission and Judicial Service Commission.
The debate is due to go on till about 7.00pm today. Ministries listed under each day will be debated simultaneously and divisions (votes) will be held separately.
