Concerns are growing that the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre continues to pose a serious health risk given that a significant number of those frequenting the centre, including traders, are disregarding health and social distancing guidelines designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Though the Dambulla Municipal Council, health authorities, police and the economic centre's traders' association continue to emphasize the importance of adhering to health and social distancing guidelines, concerns are being raised that a large number of those coming to the centre are ignoring them.
Accordingly, President of the traders' association informed businessmen today that starting from tomorrow (24), steps will be taken to evict anyone found not to be wearing face masks or ignoring other health and social distancing guidelines. He also stated that shops that are found to be ignoring the guidelines will be shuttered for two weeks.
The centre continues to attract farmers and traders from many districts in the country coming to buy or sell vegetables.
