A police constable was hospitalised after being allegedly attacked by Badulla District parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri yesterday (Feb 10).
Police said that the constable was attached to the Police Organised Crimes Prevention Division in Bandarawela.
According to the police, a scuffle had broken out between the constable and the parliamentarian while attempting to overtake each other's vehicles.
This had subsequently provoked MP Wijesiri to attack the constable thereby leaving him hospitalised, police said

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
