Parliament yesterday unanimously approved the resolution to set up a Constitutional Assembly for the task of drafting a new constitution.
Several amendments were moved to the original resolution which was tabled in the House by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe onJanuary 9.
The Prime Minister who wound the debate said the House would be converted into an assembly where the formulation of new constitution and reforming the electoral system would be taken up in near future.
