The Constitutional Council will meet tomorrow to decide on the new appointee to the post of Attorney General (AG), Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said today.
Mr.Jayasuirya who is also the Chairman of the CC said that the Council had met on Monday but as the President had sent in three names instead of one , they had written back to the President asking him to send in name of one nominee.
The former AG Yuvanjana Wijayatilake P.C retired as the 28th Attorney General of Sri Lanka with effect from 10th of January while Suhada Gamlath has been appointed as the acting AG until a permanent appointment is made.
Under the 19th Amendment, the President appoints the Attorney General subject to the approval of the Constitutional Council.
