The services of two policemen have been suspended with immediate effect when they accepted a bribe instead of enforcing the law on a vehicle that violated road rules.
This was announced by the Police Headquarters yesterday (Dec 28).
Police commenced an immediate investigation and later arrested the suspects after a video containing evidence of the manner in which the bribe was obtained was circulated among social media and electronic media platforms.
The incident is reported to have taken place on December 26 in close proximity to the parliamentary complex.
IGP Pujith Jayasundara, commenting on the incident said he vehemently condemns such acts and ensured that the law would be enforced to its fullest in this regard.
