This year's three-week-long 'Cormorant Strike' exercise drew to a close amid a heavy downpour in Kuchchaveli today (Sept 23).
'Cormorant Strike - 2019', a tri-forces field training exercise which was held for the tenth time, saw the participation of more than 2,500 security personnel including Special Forces and Commandos of the Army along with Air Force and Navy personnel.
Military personnel from Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Russia, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria and Zambia also took part in the event.
The final event - 'Critical Engagement', saw a simulated enemy camp attack headed by Commandos and Special Force simultaneously joined by Naval fighter craft at sea fighting against mock enemy positions.
The Commanders of the tri-forces and Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne were among the key dignitaries in attendance at the event.
