The Army-pioneered mock Exercise ‘Cormorant Strike VIII - 2017’ was held yesterday morning at Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee, a statement said.
Around 2108 infantrymen and mechanized infantrymen, inclusive of 370 sailors and 197 airmen and 69 foreign service personnel, representing 13 countries participated in the Operation.
State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene, together with Kapila Waidyaratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne, Chief of Defence Staff were Chief Guests at the invitation of Army Commander Lt. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing preparation, operational readiness and efficiency of the Special Operational Forces.
