Around 3,000 tonnes of electronic waste is disposed annually under the E waste management program of the Central Environment Authority (CEA) Parliament was informed today.
Deputy Minister Anurdha Jayaratne in response to a question raised by UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana said that electronic waste is generated to a considerable extent in Sri Lanka at present and is a threat to the health of the people as other kinds of waste.
Mr. Jayaratne said that a national E waste management program is implemented by the CEA with the voluntary participation of 21 government and non government institutes.
