The country must act with patience instead of panicking in order to combat terrorism, Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Ven Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero said yesterday (May 23).
"We created awareness on what was going in the country for a long time. But unfortunately some individuals viewed us as henchmen of certain political groups," the Thero told reporters at the Rukmalgama Temple.
He made these remarks after he was granted a presidential pardon last evening. Gnanasara Thero had been serving a six year imprisonment term after he was found guilty for contempt of court last year.
"I sacrificed myself for the country for several years. Now I hope to carry out my religious activities. I have fulfilled my duties both as a Sinhalese and a monk," he remarked.
The BBS General Secretary while sending out a message to all the politicians in the country said that “Anyone can sacrifice themselves on behalf of the country. However, firstly there must be a country to do so.”
