Two individuals were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court today (Jan 10) over the murder of six people in 1999.
The suspects were found guilty of commtting the murder in Boralasgamuwa on January 18,1999 when they had fired gunshots at the six victims who were travelling in a van.
Inititally, a case was filed against four individuals by the Attorney General over the incident.
However, following a series of hearings court had decided to accquit two others who were accused of involvement in the murder.
Accordingly, Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga had decided to impose a death sentence on the convicts who have been identified as Juliyage Prasanna and Sampath Fernando.
