The original video footage of the alleged remarks made by MP Ranjan Ramanayake against the judiciary were not available, a news director representing a leading private media outlet told court today (Jan 28) when the case was taken up for hearing.
Providing a statement before court the news director said that the original video footage is automatically erased from the system after a short span of time.
The case is being heard before a three-member judge bench comprising Justices Sisira de Aubrew, Vijith Mallagoda, and Prasanna Jayawardena.
Previously, the Attorney General (AG) had submitted a list of 14 names as witnesses in the case. The AG had claimed that the remarks made by MP Ramanayake were explicitly against the judiciary.
The petition against the parliamentarian was filed by Sunil Perera and Magalkande Susantha.
