Court rejects petition seeking to reinstate MR as SLFP Chairman

The Colombo District Court today rejected a petition calling for the reinstatement of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). 

The petitioners had claimed that only a candidate who contested the Presidential Election from the SLFP could hold the post of party Chairman. 

The court however, ruled that the petitioners had no legal right to file the petition.
