The Marawila Magistrate's court has ruled that traders of all communities must be allowed to participate in the Dankotuwa fair.
Earlier this week, the Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman had issued a letter requesting the Police to prevent Muslim traders from taking part in the weekend fair.
However, police had moved court after a complaint had been filed against the remarks of the local authority's chairman.
Notices were then issued on the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and five others to appear before court today (Jun 28). They had been asked to explain the reason to prevent Muslim traders from taking part in the fair.
The six individuals were released from the case during a hearing at the Marawila Magistrate's court this morning.
