The arrest warrants issued on two suspects over the Avant-Garde case has been suspended by the Colombo High Court.
Last week, warrants were issued on Avant-Garde Chairman Nishshanka Senadhipathi and retired army major general Palitha Fernando who has been listed as two of the eight suspects in the case.
During a hearing at the High Court today, lawyers appearing for Senadhipathi told the court that the accused has undergone one medical surgery as a part of his ongoing treatment in Singapore and that he is to undergo two more surgeries in future.
Accordingly, High Court judge Shashi Mahendran informed the accused to submit a medical certificate certified by the Sri Lankan embassy in Singapore, to the court during the next hearing.
Meanwhile, the court instructed the prisons superintendent to produce Mr. Fernando - another accused of whom an arrest warrant was issued, before Court on September 4 as he has been remanded over another case by the Galle magistrate's court.
The Bribery Commission had filed charges against the suspects over the operation of the illegal floating armoury under 47 counts for violating the Bribery Act.
