The Nugegoda resident who was under quarantine and passed away at the Chilaw hospital was infected with COVID-19, the Health Ministry confirmed.
Earlier reports said that the death was being probed, but the Health Ministry later confirmed he had passed away suffering a heart attack, but was infected with COVID-19
The 60-year-old resident of Nugegoda, had been working in Bahrain on a ship and returned on September 2. He had been on quarantine since then.
He had fallen ill earlier and rushed to hospital where he passed away.
