With three more persons tested positive for novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) today, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka has increased to 162 while 273 persons are under observation at National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH), Health Promotion Bureau of Health Ministry said.
According to the Epidemiology unit statistics, seventeen individuals have been recovered and discharged from IDH and 132 active patients are currently admitted to the special ward. Four patients died due to COVID-19 while another Chinese tourist who was identified in January left the country after fully recovered.So far some 25 persons have recovered and discharged from the hospital.
At least five patients are under Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of IDH hospital. Health Officials have identified Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara as high risk areas for coronavirus.
