Curfew currently enforced in the districts of Colombo and Gampaha is likely to continue till the end of the month, sources at the Presidential Secretariat disclosed.
Sources stated that the Government will review the situation at the end of May and decide on lifting the curfew. If a decision is taken to lift the indefinite curfew for Colombo and Gampaha districts at the beginning of June, authorities are to still continue imposing curfew from 8.00pm to 5.00am daily as with all other districts.
Sources further disclosed that the Government is to continue the practice of imposing an island-wide curfew on Sunday until the end of May.
Authorities are keeping the curfew in Colombo and Gampaha districts ongoing as there are some 1400 persons in the Colombo district alone who are undergoing self-quarantine. They will all have to complete their period of self-isolation and need to be cleared through PCR tests before a decision is taken to lift the curfew, the sources stressed.
