An island-wide curfew has been re-imposed from 10 pm tonight until 4 am tomorrow, police said.
Meanwhile the curfew which was imposed in the areas belonging to the Kalmunai, Chavalakadai, and the Sammanthurai Police Divisions will be in operation until further notice, police noted.
The decision to impose the curfew had been made after considering the current situation of the country. Accordingly, the general public have been requested to stay away from roads, railway tracks, and parks during the curfew
Those who require visiting the above mentioned areas during the curfew will have to seek permission from the OIC’s of the police stations in their respective localities. A travel pass would then be granted after considering the request, police said.
However, passengers who require to board a flight during this period will be able to use their air tickets as a travel pass to reach the airports during the curfew.
Journalists too will be able to use the media ID cards provided by their repective media outlets or the Government Information Department to travel during this period.
