Customs seizes 600 packets of Glyphosate at BIA

Sri Lanka Customs today seized 6 kilograms of the weedicide Glyphosate, which is prohibited from being imported to the country. 

Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) seized the consignment from a Sri Lankan national who arrived on a flight from India this morning. 

The Glyphosate was contained in 600 packets each containing 100 grams of the substance. 

After the conclusion of the Customs inquiry, a penalty of Rs.200, 000 was imposed on the suspect while the Glyphosate stock was confiscated by the state.
