Ven. Dambara Amila Thero along with 40 others are alleged to have been paid monthly sum of Rs75,000 from Litro Gas Lanka over the last three years.
It is also alleged that Ven. Amila Thero was paid an additional allowance of Rs 95,000 as fuel allowance by the said company.
The details were divulged before a three-member trial-at-bar when the case pertaining to Gamini Senarath and four others who are accused of misappropriating funds belonging to Litro Gas Lanka, was taken up before courts.
Chief Financial Controller of Litro Gas Lanka Muditha Thamangama had confirmed the illegal transactions when he was cross-questioned during the hearing.
The case is now being heard by a special three-member judge comprising the Chairman of the Special High Court Sampath Abeykoon and High court judges Sampath Wijeratne and Champa Janaki Rajaratna.
Deputy solicitor general Tusith Mudalige had represented the plaintiff while Presidents Counsel's Gamini Marapana, Anil De Silva and Ali Sabri represented the defence.
