The Dambulla Cave Temple Complex has been closed for local and foreign tourists until further notice as conservation efforts need to be undertaken at the complex for the presevation of its statues and paintings, the Education Ministry has announced.
The decision was taken by the Archaeological Advisory Committee. Meanwhile, the Government has also decided that the issuing of tickets at the site will be undertaken by the Central Cultural Fund in future.
