The convenor of the Nawa Sinhale National Organization was released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today (May 15).
The Colombo Crimes Division (CDD) today informed court that the suspect had threatened an individual on May 13 in Meethotamulla. Dan Priyasad was arrested yesterday over charges of involvement in the recent unrest which occured in the country.
During today's hearing, the attorney representing the accused told court that his client had committed a bailable offence. Accordingly, Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage ordered that the suspect be released on a personal bail of
Rs 500,000.
The suspect was also warned by the court to refrain from engaging in acts which disrupt communal harmony.
Further hearing on the case will take place on July 09.
