SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara has hit out at those trying to ignore the MOU signed with the SLPP ahead of the presidential election.
He told a meeting in Anamaduwa on Sunday that some sections were now trying to devalue the contribution made by the SLFP at the Presidential elections leading to the victory of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
He said that under the agreement former President Maithripala Sirisena should be the joint leader of the alliance contesting the Parliamentary elections, but sections were now questioning the MOU.
‘Didn’t the SLFP at least contribute 400,000 votes helping the President to win the elections with a majority,’ Jayasekara questioned.
