The deadline for receiving complaints by the Presidential Commission to probe allegations of corruption within the state sector has been extended until March 14. Complaints were expected to be received till 5 pm today (Mar 07).
The Presidential Commission which was appointed to probe such malpractices from 2015 - 2018 has received 412 complaints out of which 150 have been investigated while 15 complaints have been sent to the relevant authorities for preliminary investigations.
Further, the police special investigations unit attached to the Commission is currently conducting investigations into 15 complaints.
Former Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne heads the Commission which comprises of three other members.
Retired Ministry Secretary Lalith R. de Silva, Retired High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena, and Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Vijaya Amarasinghe are the other members in the Commission.
