The defamation case filed by a former provincial councillor against former minister S B Dissanayake was withdrawn today (Aug 26) after a consensus was reached between both parties.
Former Western provincial councillor Jagath Kumara had filed defamatory case demanding Rs 50 million as compensation over Mr. Dissanayake's remarks against him at a press briefing.
The former minister too had moved court against the councillor afterwards.
However, the case had been withdrawn two years later today after both parties had apologized to each other during a hearing at the Kaduwela district court.
