Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery of Corruption,and handed over copies of voice recordings that were aired through the media over the recent past on the Avant Garde issue.
Mr Ramanayake speaking to media claimed the voice recording were allegedly of Nissanka Senadhipathi attempting to provide Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne a bribe of Rs 5million. "The Commission said they cannot accept them without a complaint. So, I am here with a complaint," he was quoted as saying.
He further said "this is not done to attack anyone and this is a bribe that was attempted to be given in broad daylight and Dr. Rajitha mentioned this at the group meeting."
