Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Mahesh Senaratne has been asked to give evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attacks, tomorrow (Oct 31).
Senaratne, is the DIG-in-charge of the Police Research and Development Range and IT Division.
PCoI Secretary H. M. B Herath told Times Online, that the Commission had received 105 complaints from the public. He said that some complaints will be handed over to the Attorney General's Department or the Police for investigations.
The PCoI will commence hearings at 2 pm tomorrow (Oct 31).
President Maithripala Sirisena, had appointed the PCoI last month, to probe the terrorist attacks which killed more than 250 and injured around 500.
The Commission is headed by Appeal Court judge Janak de Silva, and comprises Appeal Court judge Nissanka Bandula Karunarathna, former Appeal Court judges Nihal Rajapaksa, and Bandula Kumara Atapattu, and retired ministry secretary M.S. Adikari.
Recently, the President had vested additional powers with the PCoI, to obtain financial or tax records, of an individual being investigated by the Commission.
The PCoI is required to submit its interim report in December, and the final report by March, 2020.
