A group of disabled tri-forces soldiers today staged a protest blocking entrance to Galle road in Kollupitiya against possible arrests of nine individuals including two monks who are facing charges of contempt of court when they participated in a rally two months ago despite court order.
The protesters who belong to National War Heroes Collective claim that moves are underway to arrest Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, Ven. Ittakande Saddatissa Thero and seven other persons who took part in a protest in which police secured a court order against the rally. All of them have been notified to appear in Colombo Magistrate courts on January 27.
Heavy traffic reported along the Galle road in Kollupitiya area with the closure of Lotus Roundabout due to the protest.
