United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader Minister Sajith Premadasa has opined that the UNP-led alliance must be formed after announcing the Presidential candidate.
Issuing a statement, Mr. Premadasa stated that doing so would encourage more individuals and parties to join the UNP-led Democratic National Front (DNF) alliance.
The Minister said he believes that this is the stance of a majority of UNP Parliamentarians and the other parties which have expressed willingness to join the alliance.
The launch of the DNF alliance targetting the upcoming elections was expected to take place on August 5 but had been delayed due to disagreement within the UNP on its proposed constitution.
