A Dornier aircraft belonging to India Navy was used in the recently concluded joint air observer training exercise, Navy media said. Dornier aircraft is used in life saving missions and finding missing persons during disaster situations.
The four day air observer training with the participation of officers of the Indian Navy, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force was held this week at the Weerawila Air Force base.
“The exercises was attended by six specially trained Sri Lanka Navy officers, five officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force and five officers from the Indian Navy. The intention of the training was to improve air observer capacities of the forces,”he said.
