The Bandarawela Magistrates Court has remanded the driver of UNP Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri over the assault of a police constable yesterday (Feb 11).
The assault is reported to have taken place when the vehicles of the parliamentarian and the police constable attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau, had attempted to overtake each other.
The driver of the parliamentarian will be produced before an identification parade on February 18.
The police officer who was admitted for treatment at the Diyathalawa hospital was produced before courts today.
