The prevailing drought conditions have affected over 700,000 people across 17 districts in Sri Lanka, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) revealed in its report earlier today.
Disaster Management Minister Palitha Range Bandara was quoted as saying measures have been taken to distribute water to the families affected by the drought. He said a sum of Rs. 58.4 million was allocated for this purpose.
Meanwhile, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) issuing a press release last week requested the public to limit water usage to only what was essential.
The release also noted that the water supply to certain areas in Colombo, would be slow due to the prevailing low water pressure.
