Drought wreaks havoc in the North

News

The prevailing drought has seriously impacted many residents of the Northern province, who are facing severe drinking water shortages. Government Agents in the province have put the number of families directed affected by the drinking water shortage at 28,630.

Though monsoonal rains normally arive by October, no such rains have materialized so far this year, resulting in many of the smaller tanks used for agricultural purposes. The smaller tanks running dry has mostly affected poorer families in rural villages as they rely on water from these tanks for most of their daily needs.

The drinking water shortage which has come about as a result of this has caused enormous difficulties for these villagers.
