The Department of Immigration and Emigration is to introduce an e – passport with an electronic chip that includes bio data of the owner.
A joint proposal was made by Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, S.B. Nawinna, and Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando, to implement the above project after a study and under a public- privet partnership, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
