The Election Commission has gazetted the election of Gotabaya Rajapaksa as Sri Lanka’s Seventh Executive President following last week’s poll.
Rajapaksa obtained 6.9 million votes with a percentage of 52.2, beating 34 candidates including ruling party candidate Sajith Premadasa who mustered 5.5 million votes.
He will take oaths at the Ruwanwelisaya Buddhist Shrine in Anuradhapura today (Nov 18).
