Individuals who feel that they cannot cast their vote at their polling centre during the presidential elections can request to vote at another polling booth, the Elections Commission said today (Sept 20).
Issuing a statement, the EC noted that application forms to apply for this provision will be available at Divisional Secretariats and Grama Niladhari offices across the country.
Accordingly, those seeking to vote at another booth would have to fill out the forms and post it to the following address; Director General of Elections, Election Commission, Sarana Mawatha, Rajagiriya, on or before September 25.
The EC emphasized that the National Identity Card (NIC) No. of such applicants must be mentioned in the form which must be certified by Grama Niladhari officers.
Applicants must also provide the details as provided by them in the 2018 electoral register. The register could be viewed at District Secretariats and District Election offices.
The Presidential Elections is scheduled to be held on November 16.
