EC requests state officials to prepare information for postal vote

The Elections Commission has requested state sector officials to prepare certain details which would be required to apply for postal voting for this year's presidential polls.

Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said that the electoral list for 2018 would be used for the election which is expected to be held before December 7.

Accordingly, the following officers could apply for postal voting :

• State sector officers/officials involved in election duties
• Tri-forces and police personnel
• Prisons Department officers
• Railways Department, Postal Department, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, and Transport Board officials
• Central Bank officials who have been or could be appointed for election duties

These officers have been requested to prepare the following details to avoid delays in applying for the vote ;

• Administrative District
• The name and the letter of the polling area
• The number of the polling division
• Grama Niladhari division
• Name of the street or village 
• Full name
• Serial number of the applicant
• NIC number
