The Election Secretariat has taken steps to seal two rooms at the Social Empowerment Ministry, for violating election laws.
A senior official said that the Ministry had offered appointments and cheques to Samurdhi Managers yesterday.
This had been done in violation of a regulation issued against the promotions and transfers of state employees, unless deemed necessary, with approval of the Election Commission.
Accordingly, steps had also been taken to recover the appointment letters which were expected to be issued by the ministry without following due procedure.
