Eight in custody over brutal Maharagama murder

Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of an individual near a temple in Maharagama. Accordingly, eight suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the crime. 

The victim was hacked to death in front of the Erauvala Temple in Maharagama on September 7. Officers from the Mirihana Special Investigation Division initially arrested and questioned a male and a female suspect on charges of aiding and abetting the crime. They were questioned after being held under a detention order obtained from the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court. 

Upon information revealed by them, four main suspects who were allegedly involved in the crime were taken into custody from Pelmadulla on Sunday (16) along with three manna knives. 

Two further suspects were then arrested yesterday (17) from Kaduwela and Narahenpita. Two vehicles that were in the possession of the suspects were also taken into custody. The arrested suspects, aged 24 and 32 years of age, are residents of Kadawatha and Embilipitiya. The Mirihana Special Investigation Division is conducting further investigations.
