The Colombo Special High Court trial-at-bar today (Dec18) ordered that the examination of evidence in the case filed by the Attorney General against nine intelligence unit officers over the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda be held on Feb 20, 2020.
The case was taken up today before justices Sampath Abeykoon, Sampath Wijeratne and Gihan Kulatunga.
The Attorney Genera filed indictments on nine army intelligence unit personnel including Lieutenant Colonel Shammi Kumararatne who had been the commanding officer of the Giritale army camp.
Complainants have named Prageeth Ekneligoda’s wife Sandhya Ekneligoda, journalist Nandana Weeraratne and Suresh Kumar alias Murali who claims to be a former LTTE cadre as witnesses.
The Special Court trial-at-bar issued notice on them to appear before court on the said date.
