The Elections Commission will today go ahead issuing a gazette notification of national list MPs without the UNP and Our Peoples’ Power Party (OPPP) nominees, a spokesman for the Commission said.
The two parties have failed to submit the names of their nominees until Thursday evening.
The UNP was continuing its discussions on its nominee while the OPPP was now set to take the matter to courts due to an internal dispute.
In the event of the failure to submit the names before next week, the new Parliament will meet on August 20 with only 223 members.
The UNP Working Committee is due to meet today morning for another discussion to discuss about the National list MP.
The spokesman for the Elections Commission said that the deadline given to the parties to submit their nominees ends at 4.00 PM today.
