An electronic toll collection for highway user fees is to be implemented in the near future, the Expressway operational arm of the Road Development Authority said.
"This system which has been made available only at the Katunayake highway will be implemented across all highways by 2020" Additional Director of the Expressway Operation Maintenance And Management Division told the media.
The implementation of this system would see a wide range of benefits including discounts for highway users, he remarked adding that users would be notified regarding their payments via SMS.
The general public would be able to register themselves on http://www.exway.rda.gov.lk in order to take advantage of this facility. Further information can be obtained by calling 1969.
