The Permanent High Court has issued summons on five individuals to be present before the Permanent High Court on October 26, over the illegal possession of four elephants.
The suspects who are to be produced before the three-member trial-at-bar include Niraj Roshan alias ‘Ali Roshan’, former Deputy Director of the Wildlife Department Upali Padmasiri, H. Priyangika Sanjeewani, H. Nishantha Dhammika, K. Chandana Kumara, G. A. Sashika Chanuka and P. G. Jayalath.
Accordingly, 24 charges have been levelled against the suspects for the illegal possession of four elephants between 05 June, 2012 and 31 August, 2015.
