A 11-year old child died in Nivitigala yesterday (Nov 19) after drowning in a river .
The student, who was accompanied by four others, had drowned when he fell off a makeshift bridge that was used to cross a river. The incident took place around at around 3 pm.
The victim has been identified as Maheshwaran Pushpajeewan, a resident of Doloswela.
His remains lie at the morgue in the Ratnapura Hospital.
Nivitigala police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
